Why Isn’t My Business Showing Up on Google Maps?

If your business is not showing up on Google Maps, the most common causes are an incomplete Google Business Profile, inconsistent business information across the web, not enough reviews, or a weak local presence Google does not fully trust yet.

Common Reasons Your Business Isn’t Showing Up

Your Google Business Profile is not fully verified, or was set up but never completed. Missing or inconsistent name, address, and phone number across your website and online directories. Not enough reviews, or reviews that never get a response from you. Wrong or too few business categories selected on your profile. Weak or missing local citations on directories that Google checks for consistency. Your website does not clearly reinforce your service area or location.

How to Check If You Have a Visibility Problem

Search your business name in an incognito browser window, so your own search history does not skew the results. Search your main service plus your city, like “electrician in Denver,” and see if you show up in the map pack. Check your Google Business Profile insights to see how many searches and views your listing is actually getting.

How to Fix It

Start with your Google Business Profile. Make sure every field is filled out, including categories, services, hours, and photos. Next, check your NAP consistency, your business name, address, and phone number should match exactly across your website, Google, Yelp, Facebook, and every directory you are listed on. Ask happy customers for reviews consistently, and respond to every review, good or bad. If your website does not mention your service area clearly, add that information to your homepage and service pages.

When to Get Help

If you have fixed these issues and still are not seeing movement after 60 days, there is likely a deeper issue, either technical problems on your site, a citation inconsistency you have not found, or heavy competition in your market. A full audit will show you exactly what is holding your listing back instead of guessing.
